Growing our impact in a new footprint

BMO is proud to share that we have partnered with One Tree Planted to give each of our new BMO colleagues from Bank of the West a tree that will be planted on their behalf. These trees will be planted in 2023 in the United States as part of larger planting initiatives that One Tree Planted undertakes each year. 

One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization that is focused on reforestation. They make it simple for organizations and individuals to help the environment by planting trees. They restore forests, create habitats for biodiversity and deliver positive impact around the world. One Tree Planted has planted over 32 million trees across North America through 249 projects from the start of 2017 to today.

Planting a tree on behalf of each of our new colleagues represents our ongoing commitment to driving climate change solutions and progress for a sustainable future, but also the future growth of our newly combined organization.

Planting trees reduces CO2 emissions, which helps clean our air, sustain healthy ecosystems and stabilize our climate.

In addition, BMO is also undertaking an urban greening project in San Francisco and Los Angeles that will include the planting of new trees in places that need it most. Planting initiatives in California help restore areas affected by wildfires and include the restoration of habitats and erosion control.
