October 26, 2021 | Recognition

For the first time, BMO Harris Bank was recognized by Forbes magazine as one the World’s Best Employers of 2021.

Based on data collected from 150,000 workers from 58 countries working for multinational companies and institutions, respondents were asked to rate their willingness to recommend their employer to family and friends, as well as evaluate other employers that stood out in their industry. Companies were ranked based on overall image, economic footprint, talent development, gender equality, and social responsibility. The top 750 companies that received the highest scores made the final Forbes list.

“We are proud that BMO is ranked among the World’s Best Employers by Forbes Magazine for the first time,” said Tracie Morris, U.S. Chief Human Resources and Inclusion Officer, BMO Financial Group. “This recognition reaffirms that our colleagues recognize our efforts to be a world-class employer of choice, driven by our purpose to Boldly Grow the Good in business and life.”

This year’s ratings were also determined by how employers adapted to the newest changes that the pandemic created in the 2021 workforce culture by highlighting employee retention and hiring tactics such as investment in current employees through wage raises, holiday bonuses, and college tuition. Office culture changes were also considered, including hybrid remote-office work models, the creation of employee affinity groups, and employee engagement tactics. Also making this year’s list were notable international companies such as Samsung, IBM, Amazon, and Microsoft.
