BMO recognized as one of Forbes’ Best Employers for Diversity in the U.S.

January 21, 2020 | Diversity, equity and inclusion

For the second year in a row, BMO has made Forbes Magazine’s list of the best employers for diversity in the United States. The Forbes list is a ranking of companies that are committed to cultivating cultures that encourage diversity and the support of all employees.

This year, BMO was one of 29 banks that were included on the list of 500 organizations. This comes in a week in which BMO’s diversity commitments were also recognized by Bloomberg, which announced today that it has included BMO on its 2020 Gender Equity Index, and Corporate Knights, which today included BMO on its list of 100 most sustainable companies globally. We also received a perfect score — for the third year in a row — on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2020 Corporate Equality Index.

BMO’s commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in the workforce is part of our DNA as an organization, and of our Purpose —boldly grow the good in business and life. We are committed to helping to build a sustainable future, anchored in a thriving economy in which all participate, with zero barriers to inclusion.

As a key component of our Purpose, BMO has made a commitment to increase persons of color in U.S senior roles to 20 percent by 2020, part of our efforts to help support the development of a more inclusive society. As we pursue that effort, we continue to look for more opportunities to support diverse communities as well as our employees, through initiatives like BMO Capital Markets’ Equity through Education program and the BMO Legal and Regulatory Compliance group’s pro bono legal assistance program supporting refugees.
