BMO Harris Bank ranked one of Forbes 2019 Best Employers for Women

BMO Harris Bank has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of America’s Best Employers for Women in 2019. The list was compiled by surveying 60,000 U.S. employees – including more than 40,000 women – working for companies employing at least 1,000 people.

As an industry leader in fostering diversity and inclusion, and an organization that aims to create inclusive economic opportunity for all people, BMO works to leverage the full potential of women within our businesses. We know the benefits of investing in women leaders—and we lead our competitors in representation of women in leadership ranks, with 40% women in senior leadership roles in Canada and the U.S.

That representation matters for women at every career stage – it ensures that all women at BMO, regardless of their role or business group, can learn from their women leaders. And of course, it’s good for the organization, which benefits from the innovation and growth that stems from diversity.

There is still a long way to go in removing barriers for women in business, and we believe an essential part of that work is normalizing women in positions of power. Women need to see themselves reflected in boardrooms and executive positions, in order to feel supported in their careers and empowered to take bold steps. And men need to see women in those positions, to further normalize gender equality in business.

An essential part of BMO’s purpose – to boldly grow the good, in business and in life – is a commitment to achieving zero barriers to inclusion. Recognition from Forbes and other industry leaders shows us that we are moving in the right direction on our diversity and inclusion journey.
