American Banker recognizes Ernie Johannson and Tracie Morris as powerful leaders in banking
American Banker has once again named Ernie Johannson, Group Head, North American Personal and Business Banking, BMO Financial Group, to its list of the Most Powerful Women in Banking. This is the third consecutive year that Ernie has been featured on this prestigious list. For the first time, Tracie Morris, U.S. Chief Human Resources Officer and Chief Inclusion Officer, BMO Financial Group, is also featured in American Banker as a standout, a special recognition that honors female executives who are standouts in roles that have taken on additional responsibility and importance over the past few years.
American Banker’s Most Powerful Women program recognizes the most influential women in financial services by honoring their business acumen, professional achievement and person tenacity. The rankings represent a “who’s who” of individuals that are exceptional performers and inspire others in our industry and the communities we serve.

Theses recognitions are not only a testament to Ernie and Tracie’s dedication to our customers and employees but a reflection of BMO’s commitment to zero barriers to inclusion. At BMO, women make up 41% of our senior leadership roles and our Zero Barriers to Inclusion 2025 strategy includes a goal of sustaining our current gender equity position with a range of 40-60% representation in senior leadership. BMO’s women leaders were previously recognized by American Banker as a Most Powerful Women in Banking Top Team for ten consecutive years.
